CHURCH
Basilica di Santa Maria a Mare - Basilica of Santa Maria de Gulia - The Basilica of Santa Maria de Gulia, Castellabate dates back to the first half of the twelfth century, it retains the eighteenth-century altar, antique paintings on wooden tables of inestimable value and the bust of San Costabile Gentilcore, Patron of the Municipality. The Basilica of Santa Maria a Mare, built in 1826 by the inhabitants of the village of Santa Maria, was later extended to its present form with three aisles. The statue of Santa Maria a Mare, Patron of Santa Maria di Castellabate, dominates the central aisle. In 2007 the Church became Sanctuary.
Who does not want to get married in church can choose between a simple ceremony in the Town Hall of Castellabate and a lavish ceremony in the romantic setting of the ancient Castello di Castellabate.
